Wisconsin law also permits actual, necessary reproduction costs and certain location costs. Prepayment may apply when fees exceed the statutory threshold. A custodian must review each record for protected material instead of promising complete release.
Buffalo County Arrests Reach CCH
For qualifying arrests, law enforcement sends fingerprint cards to the Wisconsin Department of Justice under Wisconsin Statutes sections 165.83 and 165.84. The Crime Information Bureau uses those submissions to create or update a Centralized Criminal History arrest cycle. If the District Attorney files charges, CCAP later sends the court disposition to DOJ electronically.

Gaps can remain. An arrest without the required fingerprint route may not enter CCH. A fingerprint arrest can lack a reported disposition, and a court case can exist without a qualifying arrest submission. WORCS is statewide and fingerprint-supported, but a public name search can still match the wrong person. DOJ's record-reading instructions explain the match limits.
For a false match, use the DOJ challenge process and its DJ-LE-247 form. DOJ also maintains the official criminal-history form library for current versions.
State custody is another stage. The Wisconsin DOC Person in Our Care or Client Search may identify someone after entry into prison custody or community supervision.
The DOC locator does not replace the Buffalo County Jail for current local custody or WCCA for the filed criminal case. Wisconsin VINE and DOC NOTIS serve victim and custody-notification needs where applicable; they are not substitutes for an arrest report.
Arrests Are Not Convictions
A Buffalo County arrest record documents an agency action or intake event. A conviction is a court judgment of guilt after a plea or trial.
